| Beginner Woodworking: Build a Shaker Bench

Tuition: $220 plus about $75 to $90 for materials
It's a woodworking tradition that beginners build a sturdy, good-looking bench. We're holding to tradition with this class, but building a slightly more sophisticated version. About three feet long and made of beautiful hardwood, this bench had the elegant stance and refined simplicity for which the Shakers are renowned. In building your bench, you'll learn to use most of the machines in the shop, plus the refinements of using screws and wooden plugs.
